The Rising Tide Method

Off the loop

For the Catholic woman who's tired of surviving the life she prayed for

If you scared your kids this week, this is for you. If you're crushing it on the outside and feel like a ticking time bomb inside, this is for you too.

The Catholic differenceThe Church calls caring for your body and your limits stewardship (CCC 2288). Your exhaustion has a cause, and you can work with it.

Two women, one pattern

Different details, same mechanism

She snaps, then hates herself for it

Dinner was planned. For once she felt ahead. Then her son had big emotions in a small body, and she heard herself yell, “Can't you see I'm trying to make you food?!” She goes to bed promising more patience and more prayer.

The loop is running her evenings.

She looks impressive, until she crashes

She works out, follows through, prays, and produces. People ask how she does it all. Inside she's holding up the world, and every few weeks it collapses into scrolling, avoiding, and a brand-new plan.

The loop is running her calendar.

Both are living inside the survival loop.

The survival loop

Why it keeps running, no matter how hard you try

Phase 1

Activation

A deadline, an event, a conversation. Your body says, “Get to work.”

Phase 2

Overfunctioning

You carry more than is yours. “Everything depends on me.”

Phase 3

Crash

Migraines, irritability, numbing out, or telling everyone to give you space.

Phase 4

Shame

“A good mom wouldn't have snapped. You're letting everyone down.”

Phase 5

Reset

“This time I'll buckle down and do it with peace.”

The Catholic differenceJesus told a busy, capable woman she was “anxious and troubled about many things” and invited her to the one thing needed (Luke 10:41–42). He invited her to rest in Him.

The lies holding it together

They sound responsible, even virtuous

There's too much to do.

Often it's too much you won't hand off, or never needed to say yes to.

I'm the only one who can do it right.

This traps you in being needed, and it tells the people you love you don't trust them.

If I don't do it, it won't get done.

You've trained everyone around you to wait for you to step in.

I just need to be more disciplined.

You're already intense. What you need is steadiness, without the spike and crash.

Maybe I shouldn't dream too big.

True surrender says yes to God's plan, even when it's big and terrifying.

Real freedom is doing whatever I want.

Freedom without order brings chaos. Real freedom lives in truth and purpose.

The Catholic differenceMoses tried to carry every burden alone, and Jethro told him plainly, “You will wear yourself out. You cannot do it alone” (Exodus 18:17–18).

See yourself here?

You've seen the loop. Now step off it.

Pick the place that sounds most like you and start there. Rising Tide Fellowship is the live home of this method, with teaching, practice, coaching, and community.

Strength in values

Safety in the body

Your body learns that steadiness is safe, so you can pace instead of spike and follow through on what you know.

Start here if you know what to do and can't do it → The Encounter Room

Practice with others

Feedback, reassurance, and accountability in real time, from people who know your defaults.

Start here if you keep sliding back alone → The Refinery

What actually changes

Life still gets hard. You get steady.

  • Your energy: Monday you stops planting a garden Friday you can't water.
  • Your insides: baseline anxiety drops, and a mistake doesn't spiral into shame.
  • Your home: your kids trust your tone and stop bracing.
  • Your marriage: less tension and more real connection.

“I couldn't let things go. I just had to make sure people understood my intentions, even when they refused. I finally worked my way all the way down to the root of my heart. I needed more baseline nourishment if I wanted to let go of a lifelong habit.”
